Prof. Dr. Eugenio Sanz Pérez has built a distinguished research career marked by substantial contributions to applied geology, environmental analysis, and civil engineering systems. His work spans more than four decades of advancing scientific knowledge in areas such as arsenic speciation, environmental chemistry, geological characterization, and the application of geology to engineering challenges. He has participated in or directed more than twenty competitive research projects and nearly two hundred R&D contracts focused on transferring scientific knowledge to industry, government agencies, and public institutions, demonstrating a strong record of generating practical and societal impact. His publication output is extensive, comprising 367 scientific works, including high-impact journal articles, books, and conference proceedings, alongside 82 technical reports that further reflect his commitment to scientific dissemination and applied problem-solving. His research on arsenic behavior in environmental and biological samples has gained broad recognition, contributing foundational insights that support public health and environmental monitoring initiatives. As Director of the Applied Geology Research Group for Civil Engineering and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering Systems, he leads multidisciplinary teams and shapes advanced research within his field. He has supervised 13 doctoral theses and dozens of master’s and graduate projects, demonstrating strong leadership in mentoring emerging researchers and expanding scientific capacity. His medium- and long-term research interests focus on integrating geological sciences with engineering applications, enhancing environmental risk assessment, and improving methodological approaches for geochemical and geological investigations. His sustained productivity, extensive project leadership, and commitment to advancing civil and environmental geoscience position him as a highly influential figure whose work continues to shape research and professional practice.
