Dr. Abhijeet Das holds a strong academic background in civil and water resource engineering. He completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from ABIT College, affiliated with BPUT, Rourkela, in 2015. He went on to pursue his Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Water Resource Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, also under BPUT, graduating in 2017. Further advancing his specialization, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Water Resource Engineering at C.V. Raman Global University (CGU), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with research focused on hydrological modeling, GIS applications, and water quality assessment, expected to be completed in 2024.

Professional Experience

Dr. Abhijeet Das brings nearly a decade of hands-on professional experience in water resource engineering and GIS. He began his career as a GIS Analyst Intern at A.B. Consultancy in Bhubaneswar (2015–2017), where he worked on spatial data management, LiDAR analysis, and 3D city modeling. He then served as a Teaching Assistant at IGIT Sarang (2017–2019), focusing on agricultural time-series analysis, irrigation design, and watershed management using advanced GIS tools. From 2019 to 2022, he was a Teaching Assistant at the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, where he led GIS-based research and project execution, including quality assurance, scripting, and client coordination. Since July 2022, he has been working as a Research Consultant (GIS Expert) at Madhu Smita Design & Engineers Studio in Kolkata, specializing in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, flood risk analysis, remote sensing integration, and decision-support systems using platforms like SWAT, HEC-RAS, and Google Earth Engine, contributing significantly to water quality mapping and sustainable water resource planning across Eastern India.

Dr. Abhijeet Das’s research interests lie at the intersection of hydrology, environmental engineering, and geospatial technologies. He focuses on watershed hydrology, water resources engineering, and hydrological modeling, with a particular interest in hydrologic extremes such as droughts and floods. His work extensively explores the impacts of climate change on water systems, the Food-Energy-Water (FEW) nexus, and the application of remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in environmental monitoring. Additionally, he is deeply engaged in geoinformatics, numerical and simulation-optimization modeling, and the use of artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, and machine learning techniques for water quality control and environmental impact assessment.
